In the new Reeves version, they just show a reaction shot of Owen's (the American version of Oskar's) face when he looks at Abby (the American name for Eli) naked in the bathroom and, basically, don't show anything. Sadly, this makes him a magnet for bullies. The final effect is that of someone who's seemingly sexless both from her addiction (blood) and her inability to properly take care of herself. Foreign Remake: Let Me In is an American remake of the film version of Let The Right One In. Ass delicate, haunting and poetic a film as you're ever bound to see. Ineffectual Sympathetic Villain: - Thomas, despite the film implying that he's been harvesting people for Abby for decades, isn't terribly good at his job. The movie ends on a down note. It's an ironic point that Abby, a vampire, shows more genuine concern for Owen's well-being than either of his parents. But when Oskar sees Lina naked the screen flashes her genitalia on the screen for a split second and you get the impression that she might have meant something more literal, because although she doesn't have a penis, she is scarred right there very badly. The film's title derives from the concept that a vampire cannot enter a home without the permission of the resident.

Psychopathic Manchild: Thomas displays many childish traits, like getting extremely jealous of the attention Owen receives from Abby. Even Evil Has Standards: When Jimmy is putting Owen through his sadistic test and it becomes rather obvious that Owen is on the verge of dying (Jimmy held him under the water for over a minute and a half before Abby intervened)Kenny and his friends get nervous and ask Jimmy to stop. He could easily pass as a 10 or 11 year old. Owen, on the other hand, is more proactive in defending himself, the second he realizes the bullies are going to attack him again, he bolts out of the pool and runs towards his locker to get his knife.
Bittersweet Ending: The ending's sweet in that Owen finally escapes his horrible life in Los Alamos and he's starting a new life with Abby, who he loves and has a very gentle, affectionate relationship with. Again, these scenes further emphasize how violent and "monstrous" these adolescents are. I marched up to him, my fists balled. Set it against the drab, stony suburb that serves as the film's setting, and it's equally unnerving; shadows flood every corner while a gritty, pervasive grayness seems to extend even to the film's sunniest sequences. The Bad: Abby, while she doesn't derive any pleasure from it and she's required to drink human blood to live, she still kills scores of innocent people throughout the film.
