St Croix Valley Pottery Tour/2021

Demonstrating guest artist. Personal flowers, also known as "flowers to wear, " have had importance and place throughout history. Each spring a group of potters with studios in Minnesota's Saint Croix River Valley invite a few of their colleagues from around the country to join them for the weekend. "My dad was really about having fun — it's a celebration, " said Tamsyn MacKenzie. The 2019 Saint Croix Valley Pottery Tour will be held May 10-12, with more than 60 potters participating. Many Earth Arts members teach classes throughout the year. The 23rd Annual St Croix Valley Pottery Tour and Sale will welcome visitors to seven pottery studios. Together they put out a lot of pottery to sell and then they invite the public to come on over. A directory of all the potters' online shops is here and will stay up after the sale. A Falls Chamber Signature Event! The sites are located just about 45 minutes north of the Twin Cities in Minnesota in the Taylors Falls and Lindstrom area. We hosts will be meeting regularly to plan for broadening the Tour's weekend online experience by offering virtual studio visits and demonstrations by many of the potters participating in the Tour. Guided by our mission to love, strengthen, and celebrate, we are passionate about lifting customers up and making them feel beautiful.
This year, the self-guided tour, which features everything from functional pieces to decorative works, includes seven stops belonging to artists Matthew Krousey, Linda Christianson, Ani Kasten, Guillermo Cuellar, Jeff Oestreich, Richard Vincent, and Will Swanson and Janel Jacobson. The "The Tour", which is held every Mother's Day weekend, offers the opportunity to experience the warmth of local potters in their rural studios. To tour is to journey for pleasure, and before I set off on the St. Croix Valley Pottery Tour, the pleasure I was most looking forward to was the chance to leave the city and drive north through the St. Croix River Valley, an area north of Minneapolis, bordering Wisconsin. We are always thrilled to see familiar and new visitors each spring, and our open house approach gives everyone a unique chance to connect face-to-face. At all the stops, each of us drooled over all the beautiful pots and a few of us took home some new pieces to add to our pottery collections.

Our second stop was Jeff Oestreich in Taylors Falls, MN on aptly named "Pottery Trail. " Enjoy an evening of fun, music, and sampling fine foods and beverages from around the St. Croix Valley. The memorial will include music by the Minnesota Horn Quartet and remarks by his daughter and four other people dear to MacKenzie: local potters Mark Pharis and Randy Johnston, both former students of MacKenzie and now professors in their own right; Emily Galusha, former director of the Northern Clay Center, and Kyoko Utsumi Mimura, former international programs director for the Japan Folk Crafts Museum in Tokyo.
