I recorded this right where it burst forth from the ground in a tall stand of old growth Douglas Fir, Ponderosa Pine, Incense Cedar, and Sugar Pine. This was recorded on a cold and misty morning while walking on the Pacific Crest Trail from the bridge over the McCloud River near Ash Camp to the Forest Service road near the Ah Di Na Campground.
